Final Blog

            Blogging was new to me I have never done it before and it was pretty fun to do. I enjoyed it because you can see what everyone is blogging and you can leave comments and vise versa. I don’t think I’ll keep blogging because it’s not required anymore, I would only blog if it is required in another class. I enjoyed all of them because people over the course of the semester put so much time effort into them. My last words to my classmates is semester is almost over, we’re almost done keep pushing through these last two weeks.

            One of the best times I’ve had with a baseball team was a couple summers ago. I was playing with the Texas Rangers Scout Team. We had a big tournament in Peroia, Arizona. All the teams there were there were top teams in the nation. I remember we had a double-header on a Saturday. I got the go ahead RBI in the first game. My friend on the team did it the second game. Everybody was excited that we won two games against good teams. One of our players had a fake I.D. and bought the whole team a beer. I’ve never seen someone pull that off but it happen. It was weird to see that it actually worked. That night we had a great time. Our coach at dinner said we have room checks at 11:00 pm. Everybody had to be in their room at that time. My whole team was pretty much all in one room. We all were having a beer and our coach walks in. nobody realized that it was 11:10 and he was doing the room checks. Every single person in that room looked at each other with this blank look on their face. We were scared that we were in trouble. He looks at us and smiles he says he’s been young before. He sat down and had a beer with us. That was the first time that a coach has done that before. It was a great time. Some of my teammates from that team that I still talk to, we talk about it all the time.

            My mom is the most important person in my life. She does everything for me. Whether its cooking or cleaning. My mom is a slender women standing at about 5’11. Thank god I got my mom’s height of her side of the family. My mom gives 110% in everything she does whether at work or simply anything at home. If something happened to her I don’t know what I would do. I would consider myself a momma’s boy. My mom is a beautiful blond, strong women. She’s the type if you ask her to do something she will do it without asking a question.

            My father is also very important to me as well. He has been there for me for everything since day one. All the way up to high school he has never missed a baseball practice of mine. Even up to this day he goes to every single one of my games for baseball even when we played in Arizona he drove 7 hours. Everyone has said I act just like my dad. Anyone who knows me always says I’m quite, humble, easy to get along with, and keep to myself. Those are the traits of my dad. I can talk to my dad about anything and everything. When I’m feeling bad or down after a game he says you want to talk about it over dinner or while we watch a baseball game.

            My little sister Raquel means the world to me. She’s ten years younger than me so she looks up to me. She can get under my skin at sometimes but that’s what little sisters are for. She’s always questioning things that she doesn’t want to ask my parents. She is my only sibling so we have that strong relationship and bond. She loves to watch me play baseball. I can always hear here in the stand routing for me saying come on dom you can do it. She gives me that desire to succeed.

            Everyone should go try out Wood Ranch BBQ and grill. Wood Ranch is the best place to go get BBQ. The entrée that I always get is bbq chicken breast and tri tip. Before your meal comes out they give you bread rolls that are just delicious. The atmosphere there is just so friendly as soon as you walk through the door. The service is great. The waiter or waitress is coming around all the time making sure everything is fine if you need anything or a refill. They even put your food in a to go box so you don’t have to do it. They have a bar as well so you can have some mixed drinks or some beer. When the weather is nice a lot of people like to sit on the patio and enjoy there meal outside in the nice weather. If you love ribs that is place to get them as well. They have a coloring menu for children. This place meets everyone’s needs, from a child all the way up to a senior citizen. If I was writer and writing a review on this place it would be getting a 10 out of 10. I always go there for my birthday and they bring me out a dessert on the house. So if you love BBQ and want a good place to go that you never had before I highly recommend Wood Ranch.

            In my opinion this was a really great book. The way Schlosser described everything had me feeling like I was there. This book makes me and I’m sure everyone else that reads it think about what happens at meat packing industries. I think that I’ll eat less fast food now that’s for sure. I won’t say I’ll eat less meat because of this book. This book makes me think if I ate any tainted meat in my life and where the meat came from. Also, since reading this book I’ve noticed on T.V. so many commercials for fast food. I have a little sister and I was watching T.V. with her and I noticed on the Disney Channel there were so many ads on fast food and junk food. Now I see where Schlosser stated to ban all the ads for children and fast food. I liked how he used the description of the prairie fields in Colorado and described the ranchers and workers who made a living there. The best part in the book to me was the story of Kenny. It was a sad story on how the company used and abused him and at the end of the day just left him out to dry.

The truth to my blog last week was I received a baseball scholarship.

            The semester is going good, I wouldn’t say that great. What’s really going good is my baseball season. We’re doing pretty well. I’m stressing about one class this semester and its math. Math is my worst subject and I think everyone can agree with me that it is horrible. I’m facing a heavy workload this semester with math and English. The pay off for this semester is that its one step closer to my goal of getting a degree. It’s about grinding out the semester and pushing for my goals and I won’t quit. What keeps me motivated for this semester is my baseball scholarship I received to go play ball at a school in Kentucky. In order for me to go I need to pass my classes this semester. My scholarship is the next step to obtain my degree since they are giving me full tuition. I just keep in mind that I need to do good in school to better my life and my future and do this for my parents.
